About Me

who am I?

Zinta Auzins,

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Thanks for stopping by! I'm Zinta, and I'm a total nerd for emotions, the human nervous system (hello, Polyvagal Theory!), self-care, relationship psychology, and using attachment science to date better (mostly-reformed anxious attacher over here).

Psychotherapy is something I came to in my thirties, after finally recognizing how far I had come from the intense social anxiety that I had experienced for most of my life, and the emotional rollercoaster of my teens and twenties. It was something I had wanted to do since high school, but as an 18-year-old choosing my university program, I was wise enough to know that I didn't have enough life experience to be able to offer clients useful insights. (Also, I had major social anxiety so I don't know how I would have been able to handle talking to new clients in the first place).

But don't worry! I finished my first round of university at the beginning of a recession, struggled to find meaningful work, and then moved to Montreal to learn what life was all about and do some growing up. It was hard, and I also learned a lot and did some really cool things that I'm proud of.

I volunteered at community bike repair shops (ask me about limit screws); played guitar, wrote songs, and sang in two bands (and also played in a few cover bands along the way), worked for a really cool illustrator, and decided to go back to school to study psychology and psychotherapy. I also got a decent handle on my unruly emotions and learned how to be really good and gentle with myself.

If you've read this far, I'm flattered. I'm really just a human trying to do the best I can with what I've got, and help others show up more fully to this wild and humbling experience we call life.
